Ah fall….a time for cold winds, warm coats and leaf crafting while drinking a pumpkin spice latte….what a perfect morning!!

Avery’s piano lessons have started again too and she is SOOOOO excited about it! She’s having fun learning rhythm, melody and about the finger numbers using her “Wunderbies” characters (Thank you to “TeachPianoToday” for their AMAZING “Wunderkeys for Preschoolers” resource!) This week I also was able to welcome Mr. Everett to my student family - he’s 3 years old and will also be using the Wunderkeys curriculum to begin his musical journey of learning…I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to teach such adorable littles - “start ‘em young” I always say!
Start up has gone so well! It has been so good to get back into the swing of things. Parents, call me a nerd if you want but I seriously look forward to piano lesson days all week! I love seeing the kids on a weekly basis and I love the challenge that each unique student brings to test my teaching mind. MY GOAL is to grow a love for music in each of my students but ALSO to empower them with problem solving skills and a sense of diligence and perseverance so that they have the confidence to do anything in life! Thank you for trusting me to spend this time with your child(ren) every week!
Pirate Day was lots of fun! We had Pirate theory activities and games and Miss Hailey B. even learned a tricky song called “Pieces of 88”! (get it? *smirk….so punny). 6 students won the “Pirate Practice Challenge” and got a treasure chest choice!
Practicing: It’s time to set the stage for amazing practice habits now!! Parents, for some of you this aspect of life at home may be going swimmingly!….for others of you, this may be a struggle….I have been writing 5 boxes at the top of each student’s page every lesson. This is ONE way to keep track of practicing during the week…daily practice is good and try not to cram it all in the last day(s) before lesson.
Next week I’ll be sending home a resource for parents with some tips and tricks that may help you discover the BEST time for practicing, the RIGHT AMOUNT of time for practicing and the most EFFICIENT way for your child(ren) to practice. And also, how YOU can be involved!
