Happy October 2018!!

I hope everyone is enjoying the wonderful Fall weather that we are finally having! Thanksgiving was a chilly weekend but we were still able to walk around my inlaws’ farm in Lacombe and see the cows and cats - a special memory each time we go. We were also blessed to have a turkey dinner with my side of the family! Though it may require some creative planning around the holidays, I’m so thankful for having so many family members close by.

I’m also so thankful to have such amazing piano students and parents! At each lesson since our “pirate practice challenge” I’ve asked my students to tell me how many times they have practiced each week - for the most part our numbers are averaging about 4-5x a week! This is fabulous! Keep it up the encouragement parents! I usually put a row of boxes at the top of each lesson day in your child’s notebook where they can keep track of how many times they practiced during the week - this is a new habit for me! I love how the kids can look back and compare their weeks.

A new “Fall” practice initiative is coming up! Keep an eye out for the “punch cards”!

Also, this month we are celebrating the change of seasons with a COMPOSING ACTIVITY called “It’s October!” Most students started it this week and will finish it next lesson - ask your child(ren) to play you their (first) composition of the year!

A couple reminders:

  • payment is due the FIRST lesson of each month for that month’s worth of lessons.

  • please keep fingernails short :P

  • let me know if there is sickness that arises - we can reschedule if necessary :)

Have a great rest of your October! Remember, there is no lesson on Oct. 31 for Wednesday students due to Halloween festivities. Thank you for all your support!
